An exceptional place in the heart of the Ardèche is Gorges de l’Ardèche. This is the name of the large gorge in the last third of the Ardèche river between the towns of Vallon-Pont-d'Arc and Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche.
The geology of the Ardèche Gorge creates diverse natural habitats for animals such as: B. Bonelli's eagles, Egyptian vultures, peregrine falcons, European beavers, otters, bats and in the middle of this gorge you can also meet wild goats.
The Mediterranean vegetation, which has had to adapt to the long dry periods and the calcareous soil, is nevertheless lush and diverse. I would particularly like to highlight the olive trees and holm oak forests that can be found behind the banks of the Ardèche.
In total, over a thousand plant species are registered in the nature reserve.
Die wilden Ziegen der Ardèche
Ein aussergewöhnlicher Ort im Herzen der Ardèche ist Gorges de l’Ardèche.
So wird die große Schlucht im letzten Drittel des Flusses Ardèche zwischen den Orten Vallon-Pont-d’Arc und Saint-Martin-d’Ardèche genannt.
Die Geologie der Ardèche-Schlucht bildet vielfältige natürliche Lebensräume für Tiere z. B. Habichtsadler, Schmutzgeier, Wanderfalken, europäische Biber, Fischotter, Fledermäuse und mitten in dieser Schlucht kann man auch wilde Ziegen treffen.
Die mediterrane Vegetation, die sich an die langen Trockenperioden und den kalkhaltigen Boden anpassen musste, ist dennoch üppig und vielfältig.
Besonders hervorheben möchte ich die Olivenbäume und Steineichenwälder, die man hinter dem Ufer der Ardèche findet.
Insgesamt sind im Naturreservat über tausend Pflanzenarten registriert.
