February morning in beautiful light before sunrise on the Moselle river.
It's perfect there when there's no wind and no motorboat has just passed by. The river is very wide at this point, curves in a long way, and at times feels more like a lake.

Garden of Eden

.....
Has estado aquí tanto tiempo. Tus ojos ciegos se han ido. Tus viejos huesos están solos. Así que quítate el abrigo. Pon una canción en tu garganta. Deja que los muertos de cansancio golpeen por todas partes.
We will go...
nowhere we know

.....
Jacob and the Stone - Emile Mosseri / Minari (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, 2021)

Minari is a film by Lee Isaac Chung, an autobiography of his childhood, when his family of South Korean origin migrated to rural America in the 80s, specifically to Arkansas. Minari is a condiment widely used in traditional Korean food. It is similar to parsley, hence its name "Japanese parsley" in some places. In others, it is known as "tanker parsley," "Chinese celery," and in Korea, it is called "water celery." The name of the film is not accidental, but metaphorical because it reinforces the background and argument that the film aims to explain. Minari is a plant that, once it dies in its first generation, is reborn and grows much stronger than the previous one. The film is a metaphor for family, its unity, the different generations and their differences, and the future of children. Minari tells the story of the search for one's own identity, the search for the roots in the heart that bind one to life, the material and spiritual search for a place to put down roots. The film's background critically revolves around a father determined to work, succeed, earn money, and gain the respect of others, neglecting his family, who need personal roots much more than the vegetables he grows or the Korean Minari planted that never sprouts. He forget to cultivate the small moments of everyday poetry that life offers us.... being there.
Minari speaks of people's roots, the true roots created by your family, the people you love, and true friends. Albert Camus said that a true friend is the one who arrives when everyone else has left. True friends throughout your life will be few. You can count them on the fingers of one hand. And if you can count them on both hands, consider yourself lucky. True human relationships aren't built in three or four years. They take many more. They are dishes that require your love and attention, stirring and mixing their ingredients gently and consistently. They are special dishes, but they take a long time to cook. The people who saw you born, your loved ones, and your true friends are the ones who form your roots, they take root in your heart so that you hold tight to life, so that life has meaning. They are ultimately a part of you. They are the essence of who you are. Water the roots of the flowers in your garden or in your flowerpots. Water the hearts of the people you love every day. Water them every day, even if it's very little, even if it's only three or four drops each day. Water... because if you don't, one day you'll find the flowers in your garden or in your flowerpots, completely withered. And what's worse, those people whom you'll suddenly and inexplicably realize are a part of you, the most important people in your life, the people you truly love, withered away or drifted away from you because you didn't water their hearts. Don't forget to buy a watering can tomorrow. And simply water the roots and flowers of the garden of your heart... water...

Rain Song - Emile Mosseri. Voice: Han Ye-ri, South Korean actress / Minari (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, 2021)

PS: Don't waste your time watering "plastic flowers". They will never take root in your heart.

PS: If a person is very rigid or inflexible in their way of thinking, they are said to be "square-minded." I suppose such a person... creates and leaves "square roots" in your heart, which I don't know if that's good or bad... I suspect it's bad...

PS: Well... if you don't want to water... do you want us to affectionately exchange the fluff in our belly buttons?

.....
Just a song before I go. A lesson to be learned: traveling twice the speed of sound... It's easy to get burned.
See the sleep that rests upon the quiet street we're standing on. Is it time to go away? Try again some other day? These are the words we use to... say goodbye.
