After a quick crew change at Air Line JCT, CPKC train I180 makes its way onto the former Haywire, the CPKC Pittsburg Sub, after entering town on the former Milwaukee Road. Here, the train is crossing the KCT diamond at Sheffield with a CP SD70ACU rebuild leading the way.
This is the MMX, Mexico Midwest Express, which operates from Bensenville, IL to San Luis Potosi, MX. 12/21/24.

Crossing over from Main Track 2 to Main Track 1 of the CPKC Kansas City Sub at Minneville as it continues across the diamond with the joint NS Kansas City District-BNSF Brookfield Sub is CPKC train I180 led by a CP SD70ACU rebuild. They're approaching the Truman Drawbridge and are about to meet CPKC train 261 on Main 2, which will give them a roll-by inspection. This is the MMX, Mexico Midwest Express, which operates from Bensenville, IL to San Luis Potosi, MX.
The former MILW code line poles remain standing along the ROW here, but all the searchlight signals have since fallen as this whole junction has been modernized within the last couple of years, along with the addition of a new control point, "Minneville", on the south side of the diamond. 12/21/24.

To the left on Main Track 1 is UP train MDMNL-21 with an SD70ACe-T4 on the point, which came down the Spine Line out of Des Moines, IA. To the right on Main Track 2 is a CP SD70ACU, rebuilt from an SD9043MAC, on the point of CPKC train I180, which will get the signal first to cross the diamond and head south to Air Line JCT via the Truman Drawbridge. 12/21/24.

An SD70ACe-T4 leads UP train MDMNL-21 down Main Track 2 of the UP KC Metro Sub at 12th St heading to Leeds for a crew change.
To the left is the former site of Ford Assembly Plant at 10th and Winchester, which began construction in 1909 and finished two years later in 1911. This was the first Ford plant built outside of Detroit.
Ford later opened up a new plant within the Kansas City area at Claycomo, MO, which opened its doors in 1951 for military production. Eventually, consumer vehicles were then produced at the newer Claycomo plant beginning in January of 1957, and by the end of December of 1956, production ceased at the original Winchester plant.
The twin smokestacks with "Ford" in-laid on the bricks still remain standing here, serving as a reminder of a bit of Kansas City history. 12/21/24.

As the sun sets, a GP40-3 and a GP32ECO from KCS hold on the North Main short of the Olive St crossing awaiting further instruction from CPKC Knoche Tower. This is CPKC train YKK12-21, "Run 12", bringing in transfer tonnage from UP's 18th St. Yard to CPKC's Knoche Yard. They died at the UP last night, and spent most of the day today trying to return home, having to double cars from 18th St. and The By's at Armstrong. 12/21/24.
