Mitten Pond, Anacortes Community Forest Lands, Fidalgo Island, Washington

On an 8 mile hike that felt like it traversed three different seasons as well as the 3000 acres of protected forest lands, it was wonderful to emerge from a sleet and snow squall to sunlight illuminating the forest and partially frozen surface of Mitten Pond.

Some moments won't wait for one to go fetch the camera...such it was with the view out my upstairs window one morning during this week of winter weather. The frosty wonderland being breathed into life by the final glimmers of sunrise light was simply magical. No hiking adventure required :-)
