The Salar de Uyuni in the Andes in southwestern Bolivia is the largest salt pan on earth. A prehistoric, dried up lake almost 11.000 m².
Larger surface area than e.g. Lower Bavaria. The brine under the surface reaches up to 72m, possibly 121m in depth. With glistening brightness it resembles a frozen lake, is almost free of any kind of living beings.
