Heading south from the North Pole at around 89º North, I was surprised to see how fragile the sea ice was - an obvious sign of climate change. Surface temperature was just around 30º F or minus 1º C. This is a view of sea ice our ship broke up.

A female polar bear and her cub on sea ice off the Svalbard coast at above 81º N were not very happy to see our ship relatively close to them although we were thrilled to see them. Note, apparently cubs stay with their mothers for two years.
