Not sure if and when northern light would come out. I waited and waited. Nothing happened. The bone chilling wind brushed into the layers of thick jacket and frozen fingers were hardly handling the cameras. When I decided to give up waiting, it magically appeared, mysteriously dancing around covering the entire sky in awe!

Seeing the starry sky at dawn, we knew it would be lit up by sunrise. But no one expected to see such a fiery scene. Everybody in our group started screaming loud, then quickly bury themselves to record this unforgettable moment. The glory only lasted a few minutes.

Many birds rested on these giant icebergs. When taking the photo, a seal was passing through. The entire scene felt peaceful and harmonious.

Shiraito Falls is located in Fujinomiya, near Mount Fuji in Japan. It is part of Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and has been protected since 1936 as a Japanese Natural Monument.

The waterfall is a very wide percolating series of weeping walls through moss and other foliage. It stretches for such a wide area that there was practically no a single shot could convey its scale.

After two weeks of travelling in Japan, I finally back online at Flickr.

Omoide Yokocho in Shinjuku, Tokyo is a warren of small alleys crammed with izakaya-type restaurants appealing to many visitors at night. Surrounded by skyscrapers, this tiny alley was packed with people dinning at the small restaurants.
