The Parish Church of Saint Thomas the Martyr
Winchelsea is a small town in the Rother district of East Sussex. Old Winchelsea was lost to coastal erosion so a new town was built on higher ground to a grid plan in 1288.
The parish church of St Thomas the Martyr is located in the centre of the town, it was constructed at the same time as the new town.
The church today consists of the original chancel, chapels and a few attached ruined arches, no record of the original plan of the church survives.
