Das ehemalige Kloster Chorin zählt heute zu den bedeutendsten Denkmälern der frühgotischen deutschen Backsteinarchitektur. Es wurde zwischen 1272 und 1340 in mehreren Bauphasen von Zisterzienser-Mönchen errichtet. Begonnen wurde mit dem Klausurflügel und der Klosterkirche im östlichen Teil, es folgten der Südflügel mit Speisesaal und Brunnenhaus (von denen heute nur noch die Küche erhalten ist) und schließlich der westliche Klausurflügel und das Pfortenhaus. Abgeschlossen wurde die Bautätigkeit mit den Wirtschaftsgebäuden der Mühle sowie des Brau- und Backhauses, dem Krankenhaus (Infirmarium) und der Wohnung des Abtes.

The former Chorin monastery is now one of the most important monuments of early Gothic German brick architecture. It was built in several phases between 1272 and 1340 by Cistercian monks. It started with the retreat wing and the monastery church in the eastern part, followed by the south wing with the dining room and well house (of which only the kitchen remains today) and finally the western retreat wing and the gatehouse. The construction work was completed with the farm buildings of the mill as well as the brewery and bakery, the hospital (infirmary) and the abbot's apartment.
