Messines Ridge with the remains of a British mine from World War I.

To open the Allied offensive in Flanders, 4 mines were fired under the German lines on June 7, 1917 near the crossing of the Kruisstraat and the Wulvergemstraat. Kruisstraat 3 had with a tunnel of 658 m the longest gallery of the mines at Messines.

View towards the highest point of the ridge, the Spanbroekmolen site where another mine was detonated (behind the wooded area and the farm in the centre).
