WWT Slimbridge. Rushy Hide. December 2023.

These Lapwing look like they are guarding the Dunlin. A mixture that can go off at any time, for no particular reason!

My thanks to anyone who views, faves or comments on any of my photos. It is much appreciated.

WWT Slimbridge.

These are resident birds at the wetlands centre as they would normally be at sea.

The Eider is a large sea duck, famed for its soft, downy feathers that are not only used by the bird to line and insulate its nest, but also by humans to stuff our quilts and pillows. It nests around the northern coastline of the UK. (The Wildlife Trusts).

My thanks to anyone who views, faves or comments on any of my photos. It is much appreciated.

Short-eared Owls are medium sized owls with mottled brown bodies, pale under-wings and yellow eyes. They are often seen hunting during the day. In winter, there's an influx of continental birds (from Scandinavia, Russia, Iceland) to northern, eastern, and parts of central southern England, especially around the coast. They are of European conservation concern and so are an Amber List species. (RSPB).

My thanks to anyone who views, faves or comments on any of my photos. It is much appreciated.

Laurie Lee Wildlife Way. Snows Farm Nature Reserve. Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.

The Treecreeper is a small, very active bird that lives in trees. It has a long, slender, downcurved bill, which it uses to pluck insects from underneath bark. It's speckly brown above and mainly white below. It breeds in the UK and is resident here. Birds leave their breeding territories in autumn but most range no further than 20km. Its population is mainly stable. (RSPB).

I was hoping for a break in the cloud on a weekend and not when I’m at work for a change! Didn’t happen… However, I did manage to get one passable shot of this treecreeper at Snows Farm Nature Reserve in the Slad Valley. Such curious birds to watch, always on the move in an upwards spiral on a given tree. Then they’ll jump/fly to the bottom of another tree and start the process again.

My thanks to anyone who views, faves or comments on any of my photos. It is much appreciated.
