With this image a new album "power plants" is opened. The Neudorf-Werndorf combined heat and power station was a two-block thermal power station . Block 1 was commissioned in 1968 with an output of 110 MW, block 2 followed in 1975 with an output of 164 MW. Unit 1 has been out of service since 2003. Heavy fuel oil is predominantly used as fuel, alternatively natural gas could be used. The Neudorf-Werndorf power plant had a 175 m tall guyed chimney, which was the highest building in Styria-Austria.

In May 2014, the owner decided to close the power station, the demolition began in July 2017. We were able to take some images just before. The quality is far from perfect, because I used no tripod inside and we had not much time.
