Il 24 novembre del 1973, un Douglas Super DC-3 della US Navy fu costretto ad un atterraggio di emergenza sulla sperduta spiaggia di Sólheimasandur, nell’Islanda sud-occidentale. Fortunatamente, tutto l’equipaggio sopravvisse all’impatto e riuscì a mettersi in salvo, ma l’aereo venne abbandonato sul posto.
On November 24, 1973, a Douglas Super DC-3 of the US Navy was forced to make an emergency landing on the remote beach of Sólheimasandur in southwestern Iceland. Fortunately, the entire crew survived the impact and managed to get to safety, but the plane was abandoned on the spot.
