User / woofadog / BSA Buccaneer .177 Calibre (1977-83), Break Action Air Rifle (Serial No: AA01312)

A good example of one of BSA’s rarer products. The Buccaneer was manufactured by BSA in Birmingham between 1977 and 1983, it was marketed as an introduction air rifle for younger shooters.
The rifle shares the action of the BSA Scorpion air pistol, the barrel from a BSA Meteor air rifle and a brown plastic stock designed for right-handed shooters. The spring was compressed by breaking a barrel through 125° before loading a pellet directly into the breach. The rifle was supplied with a peep sight at the rear of the cylinder.
The last production run of the Buccaneer was 1983 although some old production stock was sold in 1985.

All I’ve done to this rifle is replace the breech seal and replace the square shaped front sight hood, shown in the above picture, for a genuine BSA rounded front sight hood.
I’ve also stripped, cleaned and re-lubed it.
This rifle is in excellent original condition and it cocks and fires without issue.

Muzzle energy = 5.2 ft/lbs using RWS R10 Match, 7.0 Grains.
Muzzle energy = 4.9 ft/lbs using AirArms Diablo Field, 8.4 Grains.
