Believe it or not, this is my actual first picture I have ever taken of a caboose that is in active use on a regular railroad. Even though I am a life-long railfan, taking photos of trains through the 70s and 80s, all the way until now. Back in the old days I never bothered to shoot them, as I reasoned 'There will always be cabooses'. How wrong I was. But now, glancing down the BNSF main driving through Corona, CA, I spotted this caboose on a siding. I had to make my way trackside and see about it. So here it is, an ugly graffiti-infested ATSF caboose number 999761, as amazingly enough, no graffiti covering the number as well. If the boarded up cupola was obscured, there would be no way to positively verify this was ex-Santa Fe. Not sure what this is used for, but seeing it is attached to five covered hoppers, it must be for something.
