As I watched the trail cam footage of the ermine popping up from the snow in various spots, I was struck by their agility, which was reminiscent of the arcade game Whack a Mole. Ermine, ever active and adaptable, are a wonder to behold in all seasons. In winter, they navigate the surface of crusted snow and burrow through soft snow with such grace, occasionally popping their heads above the surface, seemingly to plan their next move.
