The first rays of sunlight break through the cloud cover over the Vosges Mountains in France. The still faint light casts its warmth over a rocky, rugged landscape. In the harsh environment, where the peaks are devoid of trees, the first contours and elements begin to emerge. And then, out of the silence of dawn, a gentle breeze begins to blow—ushering in the awakening of a new day.
A scene that might just as well be unfolding on another rocky planet somewhere in the vast expanse of the universe today.
