Remnants of an old CN spur that served Toronto's Brickworks decades ago.. It spurred of off CN's old Belt Line that spanned Midtown/Mid-Toronto from mile 4 Bala Sub, reconnecting to the CN at Fairbank, mile 6.6 Newmarket Sub, thus creating an easy connection for rural commuter service until the 30's when low revenue/appeal caused it to be mothballed until the 60's when use was found in the delivery of freight along the line, notably to Dominion Coal (southeast corner of Mt. Pleasant Blvd and Merton St). Remnants of the line, including this small portion in the Brickworks and a mile or so east of CN Fairbank, remained semi-active until the late 90's until, finally, the Belt Line was no more than gravel and dirt. This belt line is now a bike path.
