A day trip to a flat rock (granite) outcrop north of Liberty, Pickens County, South Carolina.

My good friend, Diane Creaton, recently showed me the location. Although I had known about this site for many years, I had not gotten around to making a visit because I was unsure exactly where it was. Since it is only about 30 minutes from home, that was no good excuse.

This location hosts many of the same plants that are also found at Forty Acre Rock Heritage Preserve, a place that I visited a month or so ago.

It is protected, but it has not yet received Heritage Preserve status. It is so cool to have a site like this so close to home. I'll be visiting it for many years to come, I'm sure.
