The pitcher plants in the front yard bog garden are welcoming spring by putting up quite a few buds. This particular species is Sarracenia flava var. flava, a native of the southeastern United States.

The white form of the Common Grass-pink Orchid just started blooming in my front yard bog garden. The white form usually blooms three to four weeks after the standard, purple form blooms. This is one of my favorite terrestrial orchids, and thankfully it is quite easy to grow in a bog garden setting.

I really like this species of pitcher plant. Its delicate, creamy-yellow color contrasts with the bright yellow-green of the earlier-blooming Sarracenia flava.
