Just playing around again with my new Hoya R72, Infra Red filter. I thought of a place that would have sky, trees, and water. That is Lake Watacoo in the Ashmore Heritage Preserve, less than an hour from home. It was a beautiful day, but the wind started picking up before I was through shooting. That's why there are some ghost-like images of some of the vegetation on the edge of the lake.

We were heading to Columbia, SC to visit Walter's brother and sister-in-law and decided to take a side trip to one of our newest National Parks: Congaree National Park.

I often accuse others of not knowing what is in their own backyard, so I took a bit of my own medicine. What a great place to visit. We must go back again, soon - maybe this fall.

Having just gotten my IR filter, one of the things I wanted to photograph was Saw Palmetto. Didn't find any of those, but we did find some Dwarf Palmetto. I really like the IR treatment on the fronds.

This looks pretty good on black...

These four images represent the Infra Red shots I took a week ago at Fort Fisher, Brunswick County, North Carolina. I actually used the standard Hoya R-72 Infra Red filter screwed to the end of my Zuiko 14-54mm lens.

This coastal area has so many possibilities for some neat shots -- the trees, the sand dunes, and coastal grasses... I want to go back!

While on our recent trip to southeastern Georgia, we drove down to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. It was disappointing to find that the lengthy boardwalk hike was closed since the boardwalk itself burned a year or so ago in a huge fire that covered many thousands of acres in southeastern Georgia.

It was late afternoon and the sun was hitting the Saw Palmettos at an angle that I thought would look good if it were captured as Infrared images. When I processed the images, it was my decision to render them in a light sepia color. To me, it was more pleasing than the original black and white...

Near the entrance to the park, we passed by this lovely Cypress pond. I just had to stop and see what would come from shooting the trees in Infra Red.
