After the "forced march from Hell", we arrived at Broken Bow Arch.
The trek in was directly downhill for quite a while along a deep, sandy path. Then, we walked through a dry wash in a narrow canyon until we got to standing water (butt deep in places surrounded by thick mud). Brother kept saying, "it's just around the corner..." but he didn't say which corner.
Of course, I slipped and fell in the mud, but it was OK, because my camera broke the fall. Just a few scrapes and bruises (probably won't leave a mark). The camera was coated with mud, but it was otherwise OK. It was about 1.5 miles in and it felt like 6 miles out.
I've painted a rather non-rosy picture of our trek, but I really enjoyed the company of my four companions (John, Walter, Silvia, and Federica -- the latter two ladies are flickr friends from Italy). And, we got the "trophy" shots we were after.
When we got back to the motel, I took my camera and my shoes into the shower with me. We Olympus users are proud of the fact that we have waterproof camera/lens combinations. The shoes are still wet...

Having photographed Broken Bow Arch to the extreme, we went back up river a bit until we could find a place to circle around under Broken Bow Arch. I really didn't think there was anything new to see down there, but Brother suggested it, so we all went.
Although the scenery made for some rather "busy" shots, I really was enthralled with the impact of the sight...
