The Spiranthes odorata were in full bloom. The fragrance is like an earthy vanilla -- very strong. I could tell when I was near the flowers even before I saw them...

At the Ponthieva racemosa locality, we found thousands of plants, but almost all were past bloom and were producing seed. Fortunately, there were three plants that still had a couple of flowers left.
