Whilst the styling of the East Lancs bodywork on the Leyland Tiger to the left wasn't flawless, it's certainly easier on the eye than the Polish built Autosan on the right. Autosan... I always feel that the name would be more at home on some self maintaining portable toilet, rather than a bus. I have to say that the rest of these buses aren't too bad looking, it's just that hideous front end. For looks, the East Lancs Tiger wins hands down in my book. P&O Lloyd of Bagillt North Wales are a rare fine example of a longstanding independent bus company who continue to use traditional facilities and take a pride in the appearence of their buses... Hats off to them!

Having originaly intended to be on holiday this week, but having to postpone it, opportunity was taken to have a good old fashioned 'Omnibologists' day out in the company of 'berresfordsmotors' and 'deltabus'. While for the most part, things aint what they used to be, in good company it's still possible to have an enjoyable time.
Parked on the severe inclined approach to their garage opposite Mostyn docks (N. Wales) was A.N. Andrew's beautifully presented Plaxton Supreme V, Leyland Tiger. Deltabus sat resolutely in the car as it wasn't an Optare product!... shocking... shocking!

UOU 417 & 418H are seen here at Creamline's Tonmawr Garage. They were Plaxton Derwent bodied Leyland Panthers which had previously seen service with Hants & Dorset, who themselves acquired them with the business of King Alfred Motor services of Winchester. If there had have been a prize for 'Best Location' of bus garage, the surely Creamline would have been in the top ten. Sadly the business is no more, though I beliveve two of the Panther trio are preserved with the 'Friend's of King Alfred'.

Between the Queen's Theatre, and PMT's Burslem travel office and canteen was a small triangle of land which acted as a layover park. The piece of land was merely one mile from an operational depot and a curious duplication of facilities. The picture was taken on a Saturday afternoon and the Stoniers's Bedford VAM14 / Duple Viceroy MTX 500E should have been working the Stoke Bentilee service four miles away (Crew operated !) The Queen's Theatre has clung onto life with it's fingernails, though the area on which the buses stand is now part car park and part mining memorial.

As refered to by 'berresfordsmotors' in his comment on my Willowbrook Expressway posting. The Cortina obscures an embarrased looking TNY.
