The climbing on the South Pillar (the one with the "beak") is not exactly a remote mountain experience since an audience in a box comes by every few minutes. Nevertheless the climb was exciting enough for me and the benefits of civilization were to be had at the very top - ie a couple of pints (or was it two half litres?) followed by a quick and easy ride down.

The South Pillar routes finish up the buttress on the right.
