Villa de Leyva, one of Colombia's best preserved colonial villages, a popular weekend destination for Bogota residents. The village square is 120m. x 120m., one of the largest in the western hemisphere, the village is pretty but boring after a few hours, the 2140m. altitude means cool night, but the tropical sun feels hot during the day. Unfortunately the background hills have been blackened by past fires. Taken from the patio of Hotel Plaza Mayor, where I was the only guest on a Monday.
