challenge: "shooting blind"

I ended up going on multiple shoots over multiple days, (I'm sure this wasn't as challenging with Chester etc.)
I realised by the last couple of days that "shooting from the hip" doesn't seem to work with the taller Saxon? so I decided to remove the camera from around my neck and try shooting from my outstretched arm/hand, here I have it held low as I tease him with another ball throw, one of few where his eyes are in frame ;-)
I do love his dripping wet fur, straight out of the river, and pre-spin dry

Saxon revealed another smarty-pants behaviour about him this week, too long & difficult to explain exactly in words here, and maybe not such a big deal, but I was pretty impressed :-)

love shooting wide-open, and can't help but give it a go under more challenging situations :-)

as far as the big boy Saxon goes, the ball (any toy really) is worth working for, and most of these retrieves involve some kind of training before the ball is his!

I had a couple of ideas, but only had the chance to try this ...
over the tracking weekend Saxon proved his natural ability, he was also impeccably behaved around so many new dogs and people and camping and no cow pattie eating, he did bark at the intruding cows which was partially my fault and a little understandable, they are a whole bunch bigger than him and just a tad intimidating ... since then I've been run off my feet just getting back to normal, so barely been around ... apologies
