A Northern Line train of 1959 stock enters Tottenham Court Road Station in November 1988.
At the time I was experimenting with Kodak T-Max 3200 ASA film in order to take pictures such as this. Most tube stock is the same length as the platform, so stationary views are impossible if you want to see the front of the train. At 1600 ASA and with the train almost head on , I could get away with 1/125th second @ f2. Unlike today, no members of the platform staff bothered with me, although one driver did cover his eyes, expecting a flash.
And yes, I do know how grainy it is!!

Blake Hall station on the Epping to Ongar branch of London Underground's Central Line was closed in 1981, thirteen years before the line itself was abandoned, in 1994. It has run as a heritage line, The Epping Ongar Railway, since 2004.
An Epping-bound train of 1962 stock passes the closed station, by now a private house, in June 1993.

In November 1988, when this photograph was taken, Angel, on London Underground's Northern Line, was one of only three tube stations still with an island platform. Rebuilding in 1992, left only Clapham North and Clapham Common with this arrangement. A train of 1959 stock is arriving for Mill Hill East.

Whilst only a handful of red K8 telephone boxes now survive with BT, a few others can be found on the London Underground network for internal use. This one is on the Metropolitan Line at Whitechapel.
