Farm to U, West Parade/Leighton Court, Dunstable. This popular shop closed due to the retirement of the owners, shortly after this photograph was taken in June 2002. It is no longer a shop, now being occupied by an electrical contractor.

Another of Dunstable's few remaining traditional shops closed earlier in 2010, with the retirement of the owner. This is the shop back in December 2007. Instead of remaining empty, the usual fate of closed shops in the town, a charity from a couple of doors down have moved in, although that now leaves their old shop empty.....

Wolstanton Post Office, on the corner of High Street/Ellison Street. I had been staring at this picture for ages, trying to work out the ghost sign on the side. I was convinced that it was 'Victoria something-or-other' and then a little lightbulb appeared above my head - Victor Value!!

The chain sold out to Tesco in 1968, who in turn sold some stores onto to Bejam, which subsequently became Iceland. This must have been a small branch that may have been sold off independently, assuming that it ever made it to the 1968 take-over in the first place.
