Red Rover Optare City Pacer 164 was running between Chesham and Tring when photographed at Cholesbury on 6 January 1987. The service is now operated by Red Eagle and runs, I believe, on Wednesdays-only. The post-Worboys fingerpost has since been replaced by a replica ringtop.

Scanned from a negative taken by Graham Wise, now in my collection.

The last buses for Red Rover, Aylesbury, were four Optare City Pacer 25-seaters, delivered in 1986/7. All passed to Luton & District on take-over in January 1988, but were soon disposed of.

Red Rover 163 subsequently became LDT 56, seen here on a Sunday 61 from Luton to Aylesbury, passing through Dunstable in February 1988. It still carries it's old Red Rover number.

Former Devon General AEC Regent V ROD 765 in action with Red Rover in Aylesbury in May 1973; this bus was later preserved and is now back in Devon General livery.

Scanned from a 35mm size negative taken by Alec Swain, now in my collection.

Red Rover 146, one of their ex-Nottingham Leyland Nationals, pictured in Buckingham Street on a local service in August 1981.

Red Rover is, of course, no more, swallowed up by Luton & District in January 1988. 146 was still in the fleet, but was not operated by LDT. It is still listed by the DVLA, although has not been on the road since 5/88. The Two Brewers, along with a whole chunk of that side of the street, has since been redeveloped.
