In August 2022, the Danube reached its lowest water level in the last 20 years, and it was a unique opportunity to explore the bottom of the receding river. We were very surprised by the sight, instead of the expected sand and mud, the bottom of the river was covered with a thick layer of river clam shells. My son and granddaughter rescued several small fish that were trapped in ponds, found a small anchor and brought back a bunch of beautiful shells.
Where they stand, the depth of the river at normal water level is between 2 - 3 meters.

After spending the morning cleaning the house and doing some odds jobs which I had been procrastinating I thought I would sit down and recharge with a hot tea after a cold walk outside in the snow.
