For The Weekly Alphabet Challenge - Y is for youth.

Whist travelling to Normandy we broke our journey by staying the night at a hotel in Coquelles where we met Winston and his owner. They were on their way to England from Sicily. Winston's owner had found him wandering the streets of Sicily, as a pup. He was a beautiful dog and as he was young I thought he would fit the bill for the alphabet challenge and asked if I could take his photo. Unfortunately we had no wifi where we stayed in Normandy so I am late posting this.

Whilst in Normandy, last weekend, we visited the American cemetery at Omaha Beach. It was a very moving time and made us realise the sacrifices these brave men had made. On the Jewish graves there were pebbles, having searched for the reason, I found that flowers will eventually die while stones will not and stones are meant to keep the spirit down in this world, giving comfort to relatives.

We visited Honfleur during our short stay in Normandy. It was about a 90 minute drive from where we were staying but well worth the journey to this beautiful town.

The American Cemetery at Omaha Beach in Normandy. A very moving place to visit, overlooking the sea. A very fitting tribute to these brave men.
