Taken at the shopping mall on yet another wet, miserable day in Washington.

1/31 in The October Challenge.
Not off to a very good start. We are in Washington DC, it's been dull and rainy all day and I am so jet-lagged so am having to double up on my first photo, not what I had planned, neither had I planned on a last minute shot in a restaurant but...desperate measures!

Another rainy day in Washington so we went to the Capitol building which disappointingly is covered in scaffolding while they are doing renovations. Then on to the National Art Gallery where these people were taking in a bit of culture.
I am so sorry I am not commenting at the moment, busy sightseeing, still jet lagged, and tomorrow we are travelling again, this time to stay near Cape Cod where hopefully it will not be raining! Will try to catch up soon.

Day 4 for October: A month in 31 pictures
Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse...what a day! We left Washington this morning, still miserable but not raining, boarded the plane for Boston and waited for take off only to be asked to return to the departures lounge as there was a problem with the brakes that would take about an hour and a half to fix. About 10 minutes later we were told to re-board as the problem was fixed. We finally departed about 90 minutes late. Although frustrating I would rather be delayed and safe than take off in a plane with a problem. So we landed in Boston and went to pick up our hire car only to find it was registered to someone else, more delays to sort that out. Finally on our way to Cape Cod. Arrived at the apartment which did not meet my expectations...okay I do have high expectations but to top it all off there is no kettle, only a coffee maker. Now, if you drink tea you will understand that you cannot possibly make a cup of tea in a coffee maker.
After a really long, tiring and frustrating day I realised I did not have a photo for my 365 or the October challenge so a visit to the supermarket to pick up some supplies and a quick snap of these peppers...job done!
Rant over and I promise to be more cheerful tomorrow! ;)

Day 5 for October: A month in 31 pictures
We went to Highfield Hall in Falmouth today. It's a lovely historic home which was due to be knocked down. In 2001 restoration, costing eight and a half million dollars began.
They now hold art exhibitions, weddings etc: there. This yarn bombing art was in the woods in the grounds of the house.
To continue my holiday saga, today I bought a kettle so that I can enjoy a cup of camomile tea...bliss. We got stopped by the police and I walked into a glass door! You couldn't make it up! ;) But it didn't rain...always look on the bright side of life :)
