Great Swift, a skipper. According to Bascombe et al the larvae are about 40mm (sounds right) and this should be the 5th and final instar. LFP is Thysanolaena latifolia

Possibly Mythimna sp. Possibly Tachinidae (Diptera) eggs/young maggots on the body.
A rather strange caterpillar. The reflections you see are as they were - the diffused flash has not contributed to them. This larva looked very slimy. The leaf it has settled on contributes to a fascinating palette of greens and yellows, fringed deep, dark red. The more I look at this the more it appeals to me.
