One of the limited number of Lego Hobby Sets released in 1975 was set Nr. 390. This model was a 1913 Cadillac Coupe. It joined two other classic/vintage cars in the range.
The set included 200 parts and was considered to be an expert build.
This recreation has been modelled in Lego Digital Designer for Flickr LUGNuts 53th Build Challenge - "LEGO Set Overhaulin" - celebrating all things Lego with recreations of older sets.
This recreation includes 343 parts and includes new functions of steering, opening luggage compartment and doors.
I have always considered the original Lego Nr. 390 to be too narrow through the body. This was required to enable a wide side step and transition from the narrow engine cover. This has been overcome in this recreation by using a curved side profile to allow greater width at the window line and a lower width at the frame.
The model shares the same base chassis dimensions and overall size as the original Nr. 390.
