Another Lego set from my childhood was this Highway Maintenance Truck Lego Nr. 6653. Released in 1982, this set include some new parts for added playability - notably the hinge allowing the tailgate to be swung open from the top.
With new roads being built daily, a growing Lego city would need to keep traffic under control and the road in good repair.
The miniland scale model shown here is based on the modified Model Team 5581 (as a Ford Transit) earlier in my photostream. The model features steering front wheels, rear live-axle suspension and a two-cylinder inline front mounted piston engine.
I have added a posable Miniland scale figure with traffic cones and walkie-talkie.
