Styled in Gulf Oil livery for 2008, the DBR9 cars #007 and #009 returned to Le Mans to defend their 2007 GT1 title.

The significance of the colour scheme, replacing that of the traditional British Racing Green and Yellow trim, was to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Gulf livered Ford GT40s in 1968.

A development of the road going Aston Martin DB9, the DBR9 racer ran in the GT1 Class for modified production cars. Aided by a lightweight, stiff aluminium chassis, and an efficient V12, the DBR9 was competitive against the Chevrolet Corvette racers.

Thi Lego model has been built for Flickr LUGNuts 32nd build challenge: 'God Save the Queen', celebrating vehicles from the United Kingdom.
