The late 14th Century Pulpitum, or Stone Screen, was built to give strength and support to the tower and spire and incidentally providing for a Rood and a surface against which to return the 15th Century stalls. It is 6' 3" in depth. The first organ was placed on the Pulpitum in 1821.
