Permanently berthed at Wilmington, North Carolina, as a floating museum. Launched in 1940, she was the first newly constructed American battleship to enter service in WWII, and subsequently took part in every major naval offensive in the Pacific Theater, earning 15 battle stars (becoming the most decorated American battleship of the war).
She was decommissioned in 1947, put in mothballs, and saved as a museum in 1962.
