Continuing with the Natural light hummingbird project this evening in the backyard.
I setup against a sun drenched background which is the backyard lawn, more brown than green from the lack of rain, but it allowed for great shutter speed and a bright BG to set off the subject..
I used 100% natural light to keep things simple.
The camera settings were:
Iso 1000 | F/6.3 | 1/5000th | Manual Mode at - 1 1/3rd | Natural Light
The Bird and flower were in filtered light with the BG in 100% sun drenched light, I exposed for the bird at - 1 1/3rd in manual mode and brought the exposure back in post to equalize the BG and the Bird. Hope that makes sense, and hope you like it. I was pretty happy with the results as this project continues.

A Dream come true today for several of us. To find and Photograph a Ruby Throated Hummingbird nest.
Thanks goes out to Matthew Studebaker for the Invite and the location of the nest. And to Joshua Clark for accompanying us to Photograph this amazing opportunity.
The weather and light held out for us, the stars aligned and everything came together.
I have a ton of images to sort through but here are a few that stood out to me early on.

Great shooting with you both. Looking forward to seeing both of your shots!

A Black Chinned Hummingbird from Bill Forbes place at Madera Canyon in Tucson Arizona.

The scenery at this location was breathtaking as was the diversity of birds coming into his feeding stations.
The morning and especially evening light here is nothing short of amazing with clean backgrounds.

With established hummingbird feeders we seen Rufous,Magnificant,Anna,Broad Billed, and Balck Chinned Hummingbirds with Rufous, Annas and Mags the less significant comers to the feeding stations.

Backgrounds were natural grasses and natural light were used for ecposure.

This Male has pretty nice plumage still while the others coming in are looking worse for wear and molting. He is also the most timid and least dominant of the bunch, The Territory disputes between these guys is unreal.
