9000 Purple Crocus bulbs were apparently planted in a patch of grass near Bramall Hall. These are just a few of them.

The number of Mandarin Ducks seems to have increased at Bramall Park but last week was the first time I'd seen a Wood Duck there. The male Wood Duck seems to have paired up with a female Mandarin and they followed each other round the pool. Apparently they are incompatible when it comes to breeding though and any eggs resulting from their union would fail to hatch.

Today was sunny at last, so I paid a short visit to Bramall Park, where I saw this Little Grebe - the closest I've ever been to one.
