This Red Deer stag still had a lot to say for himself yesterday. He seemed to have collected a large herd of hinds and chased off any of the other (mainly younger) stags that got too close - though none wanted to challenge his position.

A brisk walk up to Lyme Cage is always well worthwhile and can be guaranteed to blow the cobwebs away. I've photographed this tree many times and in all sorts of weather but it's always worth taking another shot!

It was frosty this morning and a sunny but cold day - ideal for a walk on Lyme Park - but this was the last thing I expected to see. I saw this dragonfly, flying around and eventually it settled - enough to allow me in close with my macro lens. While I was getting a shot (and wet knees) a Comma butterfly almost landed in my lap - but it flew off before I could get a shot. I think this may be a Southern Hawker but id confirmation welcomed.
