Our next stop was on the Sunshine Coast, the section of mainland coast north of Vancouver. Highway 101 from Vancouver heads north along the west coast, crossing a wide inlet by ferry to the lower Sunshine Coast and another ferry to the upper Sunshine Coast. The road north finishes at Lund - beyond this you need a boat! We took the ferry from Comox on the east of Vancouver island over to Powell River on the upper Sunshine coast to continue our trip.

A few minutes drive away from Lund is Desolation resort, a small collection of wooden chalets and apartments overlooking Desolation Sound - not desolate at all but very peaceful!

Lund is a small pretty village with a harbour, hotel, bakery and cafe and restaurant - and that's about it.
