The OM-1 had no problems finding birds in what seemed like rather tricky situations. This was the nearest we got to this Kingfisher - and this image is cropped - but the camera found and focused on it straight away.
It also had no problem in recognising the birds, perching momentarily in this fence, as seen in the 2 shots in the comment below and setting the focus on their eyes.

I've been waiting a long time for my OM-1 to be delivered but unfortunately not had much chance to test it out since it arrived a few weeks ago. A trip to Etherow Country Park was enough for me to decide that the new AI bird recognition is going to be very useful. I'm still working on setting it up to my liking and will do lots more testing - but it certainly seems like a keeper!

Grey Heron, getting ready to dive into the water at the foot of the weir at Etherow Country Park - thought it didn't appear to catch anything.
A closer shot of it waiting patiently on the ledge in the comment below. We watched it for quite a while and though it went into the water a couple of times, it didn't appear to catch anything. It was still waiting patiently when we left.
