Puffin Island lies half a mile off the coast, a short distance from Penmon Priory. The island is known as Ynys Seiriol or Seiriol's Island in Welsh (the Vikings called it Priestholm) and St. Seiriol established a community on the Island at the same time as he founded the monastery.

There are lots of pretty beaches on Alonissos, like this one at Lefto Gialos. The beaches are mainly of pebble or shingle and all were relatively quiet in Septermber. The sea is incredibly clear, relatively warm and often flat calm, like this - ideal for a me, as I'm not a strong swimmer.

The beach from the path at the end of the National Trust car park at Morfa Nefyn. The shot in the comment is looking the other way towards Porth Dinllaen, which we walked to across the sand. The houses looking over the beach have a great view - but I'm not sure I'd want to be that close to the sea in stormy weathert!
