I was hopeful that this clear morning would present a bit of alpenglow, if I could just get to a good spot before the sun came up. I noticed on the way that the thermometer on my car dropped down to -40, and that made me pretty nervous, because it could be even colder, and I wouldn't be able to tell... that's as low as the car thermometer will go.
When I slowed to a stop, the car began to run funny, and I thought I could smell anitfreeze... so I hurriedly snapped this shot and turned around for home.
Who knows how cold it got? Made it home fine, and just before arriving at home the thermometer went up to -39.
All's well that ends well! Glad I didn't have to walk.
