La piccola chiesa di S. Maria degli Angeli venne fondata nel 1216 e costituisce il primo edificio di quello che in seguito diventerà il Santuario Francescano della Verna (Arezzo).
A navata unica e con volta ad ogiva, è caratterizzata dalla presenza di un tramezzo sui cui lati sono posizionati due rilievi in terracotta policroma realizzati da Andrea della Robbia e datati tra il 1490 e il 1493.

The small church of S. Maria degli Angeli was founded in 1216 and constitutes the first building of what later became the Franciscan Sanctuary of La Verna (Tuscany region, Italy).
With a single nave and an ogive vault, it is characterized by the presence of a partition on the sides of which
two polychrome terracotta reliefs made by Andrea della Robbia and dated between 1490 and 1493 are positioned.
