The monumental complex of Villa Adriana (Hadrian's Villa) near Tivoli (Rome, Italy) was built between 118 and 138 as the residence of the emperor Hadrian.
The large pool in which the trees and the sky are reflected was originally surrounded by a portico called Poikile.
