Volterra è una cittadina in provincia di Pisa.
Famosa per l'estrazione e la lavorazione dell'alabastro, conserva un notevole centro storico di origine etrusca (di questa epoca rimane la Porta all'Arco e la Porta Diana che conserva i blocchi degli stipiti), con rovine romane ed edifici medievali come la Cattedrale ed il Palazzo dei Priori sull'omonima piazza.
Nella foto, sulla destra è visibile il Battistero di San Giovanni, edificato nella seconda metà del Duecento; ha pianta ottagonale ed è sormontato da cupola.

Famous for the extraction and processing of alabaster, it retains a remarkable historical center of Etruscan origin (the Porta all'Arco and the Porta Diana which preserves the blocks of the jambs remain from this period), with Roman ruins and medieval buildings such as the Cathedral and Palazzo dei Priori on the homonymous square.
In the photo, the Baptistery of San Giovanni, built in the second half of the thirteenth century, is visible on the right; it has an octagonal plan and is surmounted by a dome.
