This once magnificent diner has been shut for years now and every time I pass through the slow deterioration is evident. There is a fence around it now so maybe someone is hopeful of saving it!

The Red Apple Rest, Route 17. Southfields, Tuxedo, New York.
Built in 1931, it was the half way point for folks heading from New York City to The Catskills and the restaurant thrived for some considerable time. The New York Thruway was built in the '50's and The Catskills became less popular - leading to a decline in customers. In 2007 it was condemned due to roof damage. last time I saw it, it was surrounded by fencing.
